Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Dallas Independent School District have agreed on measures to ensure compliance with Texas law regarding the participation of biological males in girls' sports. The agreement comes after Paxton sought records from the district in February, following evidence suggesting that the district might have been facilitating the alteration of birth certificates to allow male students to partake in girls' sports.
In response to this evidence, including a video, Paxton initiated the process to depose key officials from Dallas ISD. The district decided to comply by entering into an agreed order to address these concerns.
Paxton stated, “I urge all other school districts to fulfill their legal obligations to protect girls’ sports and end any attempts to circumvent Texas law. Biological males have no place in girls’ sports, and any Texas public schools doing otherwise will be held accountable.”
Furthermore, Dallas ISD's LGBT Youth Program Coordinator, Mahoganie Gaston, resigned during an internal investigation. She was filmed telling a parent that a male student would be permitted to participate in girls' sports and that the district “find[s] the loopholes in everything.”
For those interested in the details, the agreed order is available for review.
