Alex Huerta-Sanchez, a 31-year-old Mexican national from Faribault, Minnesota, faces a charge of attempted enticement of a minor. Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick announced the charge, which follows Huerta-Sanchez's alleged attempt on March 14, 2025, to engage a minor under 18 years old in sexually explicit conduct.

The court documents state that Huerta-Sanchez was illegally in the United States at the time. The indictment counts one charge against him for enticement of a minor. Huerta-Sanchez appeared in U.S. District Court before Magistrate Judge John F. Docherty, who ruled that he remain in custody pending further proceedings.

Acting U.S. Attorney Kirkpatrick emphasized the focus on combating sexual predators, particularly those targeting minors. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of sexual predators—particularly those who would prey on minors," Kirkpatrick stated. She praised the efforts of the Bloomington Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and other law enforcement agencies involved in undercover operations aimed at stopping child sex predators.

The investigation leading to Huerta-Sanchez's charge was conducted by the Bloomington Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew D. Evans leading the prosecution.

Officials remind the public that a complaint is an allegation and that Huerta-Sanchez is presumed innocent until the court establishes his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
