A San Angelo man has been sentenced to federal prison for 50 years after impersonating an 11-year-old and persuading a 9-year-old girl to produce child sexual abuse material. The announcement was made by Chad E. Meacham, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.
James Wilson, aged 57, was indicted in September 2024 and pleaded guilty in December of the same year to charges of production and transportation of child pornography. U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix delivered the sentence of 600 months, also ordering Wilson to pay $106,500 in restitution.
The court documents revealed that Wilson had the victim create at least two explicit videos, which were then transported over the Internet via a social media application. Wilson also admitted to possessing a video featuring another minor, a 10-year-old female, in sexually explicit conduct.
Wilson confessed to law enforcement that he had been viewing and downloading child pornography for several years. His collection included material from various documented child pornography series, with victims from 13 of these series seeking restitution for trauma caused by the abuse they suffered. Consequently, the Court awarded $106,500 to these victims.
The investigation was carried out by the FBI’s Dallas Field Division – San Angelo Resident Agency and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Whitney Ohlhausen.
