Victim advocates in St. Louis will provide phone support on Wednesday for crime victims and survivors, aiding them in seeking justice and obtaining various forms of assistance. The initiative includes information on services such as treatment, counseling, compensation, and support.
The hotline, now in its third year, is available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 314-539-6855 each Wednesday. Each year, the hotline receives numerous calls from individuals seeking help with crime-related issues and online harassment.
Additionally, the U.S. Attorney’s Office is offering 100 gun locks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the week. Individuals can obtain these gun locks by visiting the reception area on the 20th floor of the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse, located at 111 South 10th Street in downtown St. Louis.
The initiative is part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week. This year's theme is "KINSHIP," emphasizing the importance of shared humanity in supporting crime survivors and victims. The concept of kinship is described as "a state of being with survivors that drives vital connections to services, rights, and healing," and highlights the starting point for victim advocacy.
