A Fort Worth man was sentenced to federal prison for illegal possession of a machinegun after pleading guilty to the charge. Brennan Trainor Rodriguez, 33, received a 51-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor. This announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham.

Rodriguez was previously implicated in a heroin-related case from 2013, where he injected heroin into a 21-year-old, resulting in a fatal overdose. Rodriguez was on a 10-year deferred adjudication probation beginning November 26, 2014, which included a prohibition against possessing firearms.

On August 6, 2024, law enforcement responded to a call from Rodriguez's former girlfriend, who reported stalking and harassment. She also claimed Rodriguez frequently used firearms, including an automatic one. This led to his arrest for stalking the following week and the discovery of nine firearms at his home. One of these was a Smith & Wesson rifle outfitted with a machinegun conversion device.

The investigation was carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives’ Dallas Field Division – Fort Worth Resident Agency and the Fort Worth Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric B. Chen prosecuted the case.
