Four individuals have received sentences for their involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy in Berkeley, Morgan, and Hampshire Counties. Court documents reveal that 26 people were charged in 2023, with the organization led by Dorian Scott Burks and Andrew Ross Hose. The group was engaged in distributing significant amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, and investigations led to the recovery of drugs, firearms, and money.
The individuals sentenced this week include:
Alexis Walsh, 30, from Jeannette, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 123 months in prison for distributing cocaine hydrochloride. Michael Ramsbottom, 68, from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, received an 84-month sentence for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine hydrochloride, and cocaine base. Sathira Lynn Ewers, 42, from Romney, West Virginia, was sentenced to 70 months for similar charges. Eric Turner, 38, from Winchester, Virginia, was given three years of probation for conspiracy to distribute similar drugs.
All defendants in this case have been convicted. Notably, Dorian Scott Burks, 29, from Jeannette, Pennsylvania, received a 262-month sentence in January 2025. Andrew Ross Hose, 40, from Bunker Hill, West Virginia, is scheduled for sentencing on May 5, 2025.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher, with investigations conducted by the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, a program funded by HIDTA. The operation is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, which targets high-level criminal organizations through a coordinated, intelligence-driven approach. Additional details about the OCDETF can be found on the U.S. Department of Justice's website.
Presiding over the proceedings was U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh.
