A Waldorf, Maryland man, Daniel Michael Harris, Sr., 45, pled guilty to committing a series of armed commercial robberies while using a firearm. The announcement was made by Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, alongside several law enforcement leaders, including Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno of the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office, Chief Malik Aziz of the Prince George’s County Police Department, Sheriff Troy D. Berry of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Chief Marc Yamada of the Montgomery County Police Department.

According to his guilty plea, Harris, in collaboration with others, executed armed robberies across multiple counties. The incidents, occurring in March and April of 2023, involved convenience stores in Prince George’s County, Charles County, and Montgomery County. In each case, Harris used a pistol-grip shotgun to threaten employees and customers while stealing money and other valuable items.

The spree began with two robberies in Prince George’s County on March 23 and March 28, where cash and cigarettes were taken. The crime wave continued with a robbery in Charles County on April 5, where Harris held a store employee at gunpoint and stole their belongings. Another heist followed in Montgomery County on April 6, claiming more cash and personal items from store staff.

A breakthrough came on April 12, 2023, when a Prince George’s County Police officer identified the getaway vehicle tied to the robberies. Although the suspects managed to avoid capture initially, DNA evidence connected Harris to the crimes. Later, a search warrant executed by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office on November 9, 2023, led to the discovery of the clothing and shotgun used in the robberies, found in Harris's storage unit.

Harris and the prosecution have agreed to a plea deal that could result in a federal prison sentence ranging from 13 to 17 years, conditional upon court approval. U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow has set the sentencing for July 18, 2025.

This case forms part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a strategy aimed at reducing violent and gun-related crimes through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. Comments from the Department emphasized fostering trust, supporting community prevention initiatives, and prioritizing strategic enforcement.

U.S. Attorney Hayes expressed gratitude to the FBI, Prince George’s County Police Department, Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Montgomery County Police Department for their roles in the investigation. Appreciation was also extended to Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan S. McKoy for prosecuting the case.
