Matthew Podolsky, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that Jonathan Delaura, also known as “Jon Dulak,” was sentenced to 485 months in prison. U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Karas sentenced him for charges including the reception, distribution, and possession of child pornography, and the transferral of obscene material to a minor. Delaura pled guilty on July 1, 2024.

Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew Podolsky stated, "DeLaura possessed large quantities of child pornography and took advantage of a fifteen-year-old child, all while he was required by law to register as a sex offender. This case underscores the urgent need for law enforcement to continue its efforts to protect children from those who prey on them. As yesterday’s sentencing demonstrates, we will use every tool available to prosecute and punish those who sexually exploit children."

Court documents revealed past convictions, including a 2009 guilty plea in Bronx County Court for Sexual Misconduct. Following violations, he was resentenced in 2010 to one year in prison, but was released in April 2011. In May 2011, Delaura received and distributed child pornography using a file-sharing program.

In November 2011, Delaura posed as a girl in an Internet chat room, interacting with a 15-year-old boy. He later engaged in sexual activity with the boy and attempted another meeting in 2012, when he was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. Subsequent searches uncovered images of child pornography on his iPod, including explicit photos sent to the victim.

Delaura was convicted on February 3, 2012, of two counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the third degree at Putnam County Court, with a sentence ranging from 32 months to 8 years in prison, completed by January 2020. He has been in custody on federal charges since then.

Additionally, Delaura received ten years of supervised release.

Matthew Podolsky commended the efforts of investigative agencies involved, including Homeland Security Investigations, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, the Yorktown Police Department, and district attorney’s offices. The case is managed by the White Plains Division, led by Assistant United States Attorney Marcia S. Cohen.
