The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has reported the sentencing of Stefan-Alin Doleanu, a Romanian national, for his involvement in a wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft. On March 27, 2025, United States District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson sentenced Doleanu to 24 months in prison.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus revealed that between November 2022 and March 2023, Doleanu, along with co-defendants including Eliza Doleanu, engaged in a conspiracy to utilize stolen SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card data. These fraudulent activities took place at Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale Club locations in Camp Hill, Chambersburg, Mechanicsburg, and York, gathering several thousand dollars in illegal transactions.

As part of the judgment, Judge Wilson ordered that Doleanu pay restitution amounting to $14,255.97. Additionally, Doleanu is set to be deported from the United States after serving his sentence.

This case was investigated by the United States Secret Service and the United States Department of Agriculture's Office of Inspector General. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams.
