A Rhode Island resident has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for her role in a drug distribution conspiracy involving significant quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine. Denise Guyette, 31, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani in Boston, after pleading guilty to the charges related to the distribution of controlled substances.

In February 2023, Guyette, alongside Gerardo Garza and Nathan Boddie, was indicted in connection to the conspiracy. The group was involved in trafficking drugs, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine in various locations, including Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The organization used the mail system to ship illegal drugs from Arizona to Massachusetts, disguising them in packages with children’s items. Investigations had led to the seizure of over 900 grams of methamphetamine, counterfeit pills with fentanyl, and other substances.

During her arrest, authorities discovered 6.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and over 2,700 counterfeit fentanyl pills in a safe at Guyette's home. A search also revealed various identification documents belonging to other individuals.

Both Garza and Boddie have pleaded guilty to the charges. Boddie received a sentence of 84 months in prison, while Garza is awaiting sentencing.

The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alathea Porter and Charles Dell’Anno prosecuted the case, part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which targets high-level criminal organizations in the U.S.
