Tahlequah woman pleads guilty to federal firearm possession charge

Laura Gema Carroll, a 36-year-old resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has pled guilty to a federal firearm charge, according to an announcement by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Carroll was charged with possessing a semi-automatic .380 ACP caliber pistol and five rounds of .380ACP ammunition on June 12, 2024. This possession occurred after Carroll had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than a year in prison.

The investigation that led to these charges was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in collaboration with the Tahlequah Police Department.

Judge D. Edward Snow, serving as U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted Carroll's plea. He has ordered a presentence investigation report. In the meantime, Carroll will remain in custody with the United States Marshals Service until her sentencing.

The United States was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rachel Geizura and T. Cameron McEwen in this case.
