A man from St. Louis County has confessed to committing five bank robberies and an attempted robbery. Derrick Snulligan, 62, from Velda Village Hills, admitted to targeting a bank in Northwoods, Missouri, on April 18, 2023, and again on August 28, 2023. A third attempt at the same bank on October 13, 2023, was foiled when a teller triggered an alarm.

Snulligan wore a mask during each of these incidents. After being deterred during the October attempt, he escalated his tactics by issuing more menacing notes. On June 24, 2024, at a Hazelwood credit union, he delivered a note demanding bills in specific denominations. The teller complied, and Snulligan escaped.

On June 27, 2024, Snulligan robbed a St. Louis credit union and later the same day committed a robbery at a Florissant credit union. His notes included threatening language, demanding money in exact amounts, and he fled using a blue vehicle identified as a Buick Encore.

Authorities traced the vehicle to Snulligan, who admitted to the robberies and returned some of the stolen money. Snulligan also goes by the name Derrick Jackson. He pleaded guilty to five counts of bank robbery in U.S. District Court in St. Louis and awaits sentencing on July 1. Each charge carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the FBI, the Florissant Police Department, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Northwoods Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul D’Agrosa is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aiming to reduce violent crime and gun violence by fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting preventive community-based organizations, prioritizing focused enforcement, and measuring results.
