An Eddington resident, Thadius Wind, has been taken into custody and charged with transmitting an interstate threat. The arrest follows a criminal complaint that outlines events beginning in 2024 when the FBI was alerted by Meta about a Facebook user discussing potential violence against law enforcement and military personnel.

The investigation intensified after online tips from the public pointed to threatening statements made on X, formerly known as Twitter. In November 2024, the FBI executed a search warrant for the X account in question. Posts recovered from this account included threats directed at Jews, political figures, the Supreme Court, among others. The investigation traced these posts back to Thadius Wind.

The case is being investigated by both the FBI and Secret Service with support from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

It is important to note that a complaint is only an allegation at this stage. All individuals charged are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
