Maxie Darryl Caston, a 58-year-old resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma confirmed that Caston entered a guilty plea to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The indictment stated that on September 6, 2024, Caston was found in possession of multiple firearms and ammunition. This included one .22 caliber revolver, one .20 gauge break-open shotgun, one .243 Winchester caliber bolt-action rifle, two .22 caliber semi-automatic rifles, and one .22 caliber lever-action rifle. He also had six rounds of .22 Magnum caliber ammunition, one round of .20 gauge ammunition, 13 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, and five rounds of .243 Winchester caliber ammunition. These possessions were illegal due to his previous conviction for a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Caston's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. Until sentencing is finalized, Caston will remain under the custody of the United States Marshals Service.
