Haven Patterson, a 42-year-old resident of New Orleans, was indicted on March 13, 2025, for being a felon in possession of firearms. The indictment charges Patterson with violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1).

The indictment alleges that Patterson knowingly possessed two firearms: a Smith & Wesson SD40, a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, and a Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380, a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Both firearms were reportedly loaded with ammunition.

As a convicted felon, federal law prohibits Patterson from possessing firearms or ammunition. If found guilty, he could face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson emphasized that the indictment is merely an accusation and that guilt must be established beyond reasonable doubt.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Chandra Menon from the Public Integrity Unit is prosecuting the case.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while safeguarding communities from violent crime. The operation leverages resources from the Department's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
