Applications are now open for a part-time justice court judge position in Tremonton, Utah. The new appointee will succeed Judge Kevin Christensen, who has resigned.

Candidates must meet several criteria to be eligible for the judgeship in Box Elder County. They need to be at least 25 years old, a U.S. citizen, and have been a Utah resident for at least three years. Additionally, they must hold a law degree that qualifies them to apply for bar admission in any U.S. state and reside in Box Elder County or an adjacent county by the time of appointment or before assuming the role.

According to Utah law, the Judicial Nominating Commission is required to present at least three nominees to Lyle Holmgren, mayor of Tremonton, within 45 days of its initial meeting. Mayor Holmgren will then have 30 days to choose a finalist whose selection must be ratified by the Tremonton City Council and certified by the Utah Judicial Council.
