A Coffee County, Alabama man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm. Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced the sentencing of 33-year-old Michael Glenn Saizan on March 18, 2025. The sentence stems from an incident where Saizan used a firearm in a shooting.
According to court records, law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in Daleville, Alabama on January 18, 2024. Witnesses stated that Saizan had been involved in an argument with another man, during which he retrieved an AR-style rifle and shot the individual before fleeing the scene. The victim survived the shooting. The following day, investigators searched Saizan’s home in Enterprise, Alabama and discovered the rifle along with ammunition. As a convicted felon, Saizan is prohibited by federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition. He pleaded guilty on December 10, 2024.
This case was prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through collaboration between various levels of law enforcement and community partners. The Department of Justice revitalized PSN in 2017 to focus on violent criminals by working with U.S. Attorney’s Offices and law enforcement agencies.
The investigation involved the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Daleville Police Department, and Enterprise Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Russell T. Duraski handled the prosecution.
