U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Darin L. Butts, Jr., a 31-year-old resident of Celeron, NY, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis A. Testani provided details on the case, explaining that during July and August 2023, authorities conducted seven controlled purchases of methamphetamine and fentanyl from Butts. On August 23, 2023, search warrants were executed at his residence and two vehicles. Law enforcement officers seized approximately 610 grams of methamphetamine, some packaged for individual sale, drug paraphernalia, and around $14,829 in cash linked to his trafficking activities.
Further action was taken on May 3, 2024, when law enforcement executed another search warrant at Butts' residence. This resulted in the seizure of multiple quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl along with additional drug paraphernalia.
