Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, along with Stephen P. Belleau, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England, and Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox, have announced that a federal grand jury in Hartford has indicted Rahkeem Blakley, 34, from Enfield on a cocaine trafficking charge.

The indictment was issued on February 13, 2025. Blakley appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas O. Farrish in Hartford recently and entered a plea of not guilty. He has been held since his arrest on related state charges on September 12, 2024.

According to the indictment, Blakley was found to be in possession of cocaine with intent to distribute it on September 12, 2024. A search conducted at Blakley's residence on Main Street in Enfield uncovered five handguns, gun magazines, ammunition, approximately $73,000 in cash. Additionally, two safety deposit boxes linked to Blakley at a Springfield bank contained over $280,000 in cash.

Blakley is charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. This offense carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment. The indictment also seeks the forfeiture of firearms and cash seized during the search on September 12, 2024.

Acting U.S. Attorney Silverman emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and does not constitute evidence of guilt. "Charges are only allegations," he stated. "A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."

The investigation is being carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Enfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey M. Stone is prosecuting the case.
