A Honduran citizen, Roney Vasquez-Pineda, has been sentenced to time served after being held in custody for 36 days. The sentence was handed down by U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Arbuckle for the misdemeanor charge of possessing a fraudulent identification document.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Vasquez-Pineda was found with a fraudulent social security card on February 10, 2025.
Following his sentencing, Vasquez-Pineda will return to ICE custody where he will undergo immigration removal proceedings.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Zenzinger prosecuted the case.
