A Kansas man has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse materials. Scott Warren Vass, 57, from Arkansas City, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at Vass' home in April 2023. During the search, agents seized multiple devices containing child sexual abuse materials. Further investigation revealed that several of Vass’ Google accounts also held sexually explicit depictions of minors under the age of 12.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Gordon.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. The project aims to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute offenders while rescuing victims.
