Antonio Johnson, a 33-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., received a 204-month prison sentence on March 18, 2025. The sentence was for the shooting of Marcellus Jackson in Northeast Washington D.C., as announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Johnson had entered a guilty plea to one count of voluntary manslaughter while armed in December 2024 at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, when Johnson and Jackson were engaged in a verbal argument outside an apartment building located at 4400 Hunt Place, Northeast. During the altercation, Johnson pointed a loaded firearm at Jackson, instructed him to stop provoking him, and subsequently shot him before fleeing the scene.
Johnson was apprehended on the same day and has remained in custody since his arrest.
U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith expressed their appreciation for the efforts of those involved in investigating the case from the Metropolitan Police Department. They also recognized contributions from members of the U.S. Attorney’s Office including Paralegal Specialist Grazy Rivera and Victim/Witness Advocate Christie Bloodworth.
Additionally, they acknowledged Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Ganjei for his role in investigating and prosecuting the case.
