Judge Ryan J. Younggren sworn in at Cass County Courthouse

The investiture ceremony for Judge Ryan J. Younggren took place on March 7, 2025, at the Cass County Courthouse. The event was attended by several North Dakota Supreme Court Justices, district court judges, and judicial referees from across the state. Family members also participated in the ceremony, including his wife Holly; sons Cody and Colton; parents Jim and Betty Younggren; and brother Scott.

Judge Younggren began his career in private practice before serving as a Deputy District Attorney in Denver, Colorado. He later moved to Fargo to become an Assistant Cass County State’s Attorney from 2007 to 2024. In January, he assumed his role as a judge. During his remarks at the ceremony, he expressed gratitude for his family's support and dedicated the occasion to his late father- and mother-in-law Mick & Irene Flanagan.

Chief Justice Jensen administered the oath of office with assistance from Judge Younggren's wife Holly. Judge Theodore Sandberg, president of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, presented Judge Younggren with a gavel.

Judge Younggren addressed those present at the event while accompanied by family members: brother Scott; wife Holly; mother Betty; father Jim; and sons Cody and Colton who assisted with presenting his robe.
