A federal jury has found Brian Keith Mays, 58, from Arkansas, guilty of armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. This announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Mays was charged on January 21, 2025, with a two-count Superseding Indictment. The charges included armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. After a three-day trial concluding on March 13, 2025, the jury returned guilty verdicts on both counts.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that on July 5, 2024, Mays used a pistol to rob the FNB Community Bank in Harrah, Oklahoma. He escaped with $12,123 after the tellers complied with his demands. Surveillance footage from the bank and an adjacent store showed Mays fleeing the scene. An eyewitness provided authorities with the getaway vehicle's tag number, leading them to Mays. Cell phone data placed him near the bank at the time of the robbery and later at a Walmart where he transferred $3,000 to someone in Arkansas and was seen using cash to make purchases.
Mays could face up to life imprisonment and fines up to $500,000 upon sentencing.
The case was investigated by multiple agencies including FBI offices in Oklahoma City and Fort Smith, Harrah Police Department, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Gridley and Drew E. Davis are handling prosecution duties.
This conviction is part of Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while safeguarding communities against violent crime perpetrators.
