Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Principals Lariza P. Hebert in Houston and Steven M. Zimmerman in Los Angeles. Lariza joins the firm from Fisher Phillips, and Steven resumes his role as principal after serving as director of labor relations at The Walt Disney Company.
Lariza represents employers across a range of industries in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, handling matters such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misclassification, employee leave issues and trade secret disputes. She has secured favorable outcomes in high-stakes litigation, including defense verdicts in racial harassment and discrimination cases, summary judgments in age and disability discrimination matters and successful defenses in complex wage and hour and multi-plaintiff claims.
“Lariza’s skill in handling high-stakes employment matters is a great complement to the services we provide our clients,” said Carolyn G. Burnette and Ana C. Shields, co-leaders of the firm’s Employment Litigation group. “We’re confident her addition will enhance our capabilities, enabling us to better support clients even better in navigating legal challenges, whether through litigation or strategic advice. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on the firm.”
Beyond litigation, Lariza regularly advises employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, helping them mitigate risk and implement best practices. She frequently conducts workplace training sessions to support clients in fostering legally compliant and productive work environments. Lariza earned her J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law and her B.S. from Texas A&M University.
“As Houston’s business landscape continues to grow, employers face increasingly complex workplace regulations,” said Houston Office Managing Principal Charles H. Wilson. “Lariza’s diverse industry experience provides her with valuable insight into these challenges, and her addition reinforces Jackson Lewis’ reputation as the go-to resource for trusted workplace law guidance.”
Steven’s practice focuses on traditional labor law, where he represents clients in the hotel, entertainment, media, distribution and warehousing industries before the National Labor Relations Board and in state and federal courts. He has extensive experience in union-management relations, including collective bargaining and advising on the administration of labor agreements. Steven has also successfully defended employers in complex labor disputes before arbitrators.
“Steven’s return to Jackson Lewis is a significant boost to our team, particularly as we continue expanding our work with clients in the entertainment and hospitality industries,” said Laura A. Pierson-Scheinberg and Richard F. Vitarelli, co-leaders of the firm’s Labor Relations group. “His experience will help our clients address the day-to-day complexities of managing workforce dynamics while staying compliant with ever-changing regulations, and we are excited to share in his continued success here at the firm.”
Beyond his labor practice, Steven represents employers and individual defendants in employment litigation, handling cases involving sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, unfair competition and restrictive covenants. Steven earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and his B.A. from New York University.
“Steven's long-standing career and dedicated focus on labor relations have established him as a highly regarded leader in the field,” said Los Angeles Office Managing Principal Nicky Jatana. “His keen ability to not only interpret the law but also anticipate its trajectory makes him a trusted resource for clients, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to Jackson Lewis.”
