A Worcester resident, Ryan Davidson, aged 39, has admitted guilt in federal court for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon and for having an unregistered silencer. The plea was entered before U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman, who has set the sentencing date for July 15, 2025.
Davidson faced indictment by a federal grand jury in August 2023, with a superseding indictment issued in November of the same year. His arrest followed an incident on May 9, 2023, when police stopped him for a marked lane violation and issues related to his vehicle's Georgia "dealer" license plate. Failing to provide insurance proof led to an inventory search of his car after he fled on foot but was later apprehended.
The search uncovered two firearms: a Polymer P80 pistol without a serial number found in the trunk along with ammunition and a silencer; and a Taurus pistol with ammunition located in the glovebox. These were found despite Davidson's previous felony convictions carrying sentences of seven to ten years.
For being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, Davidson faces up to 15 years' imprisonment. Possession of an unregistered firearm could add another decade behind bars. Both charges include potential supervised release and fines.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the developments alongside James M. Ferguson from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives Boston Field Division and Paul Saucier from Worcester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kaitlin J. Brown is handling prosecution duties.
