A federal jury has convicted two men involved in a drug trafficking organization that distributed illegal drugs in North Central West Virginia. Frank Brown, 35, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Rex Jenkins, 32, from Southfield, Michigan, were found guilty of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and distributing methamphetamine. Additionally, Jenkins was convicted on two extra counts related to the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.

Evidence presented during the trial indicated that both individuals were part of a network supplying significant quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine in Morgantown, West Virginia. Both Brown and Jenkins could face up to 20 years for each count. Sentencing will occur at a later date by a federal district court judge who will consider U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The prosecution team includes Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley and AUSA Christie Utt representing the United States. The Mon Metro Drug Task Force conducted the investigation as part of a HIDTA-funded initiative. This task force comprises members from various law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the West Virginia State Police; the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office; among others.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations threatening national security through a prosecutor-led approach supported by intelligence and multiple agencies.

Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the proceedings.
