Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced the sentencing of Christian Angel Tinoco, 32, from Idaho Falls. Tinoco was convicted on multiple charges related to child pornography, including ten counts of distributing sexually exploitative material and ten counts of possession. The former charge is a felony with a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison, while the latter carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.

On March 4, 2025, Senior District Judge Stephen S. Dunn sentenced Tinoco to a total of sixteen years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after three years and must register as a sex offender under Idaho law.

"Removing these predators from our streets is a top priority for our office," said Attorney General Labrador. "Our ICAC prosecutors and investigators work hard to deliver justice for these tragically young victims of such disturbing crimes. I’m continually grateful for the partnerships that have been built across the state. Protecting children in our communities is a team effort, and we’ve built a great team."

The investigation began in January 2024 when the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received information about an account linked to Tinoco containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). After obtaining search warrants, officers found multiple files of CSAM on his digital devices along with chat logs indicating distribution activities through online platforms.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General James Haws. Jared Mendenhall from the Idaho Falls Police Department and Korey Payne from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office were lead investigators in this case as part of the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit.

Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding child exploitation to contact local police or relevant agencies like the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit at 208-947-8700 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.

The ICAC Unit collaborates with federal, state, and local law enforcement through the Idaho ICAC Task Force to address internet-based crimes against children. More resources are available on their website at ICACIdaho.org.
