Alejandro Aguirre, a 28-year-old resident of Plainview, Texas, has pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham. Aguirre entered his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Amanda ‘Amy’ R. Burch and was immediately taken into custody pending sentencing.

Court documents reveal that in June 2023, the Amarillo Police Department received information about Aguirre contacting minors via a social media application and engaging in sexual intercourse with at least one minor. A forensic interview with a 16-year-old minor confirmed that Aguirre had sexual relations with her in Amarillo.

During an interview with detectives from the Amarillo Police Department, Aguirre confessed to having sex with the minor and recording it on his cell phone. Detectives obtained a search warrant for his phone and found the video he described, although it featured a different minor than initially interviewed.

The Amarillo officers then collaborated with a detective from the Plainview Police Department to identify the minor in the video. The detective identified her as another 16-year-old Plainview resident.

This second minor underwent a forensic interview and stated that Aguirre contacted her through a social networking app and recorded their sexual encounter in Plainview, which matched the video recovered from Aguirre's phone.

Aguirre is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and could be sentenced to up to 30 years in federal prison. His sentencing date has not yet been determined.

The investigation was conducted by both the Amarillo Police Department and Plainview Police Department, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Rancourt is handling the prosecution of this case.
