Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has called on Congress to support a bipartisan bill that would ensure nationwide access to year-round E15 gasoline. This initiative aims to bolster American energy independence by utilizing homegrown resources.

On his first day in office, President Trump signed an executive order to expand access to E15 gasoline, emphasizing its importance for America's energy future. He also established the National Energy Dominance Council, which advocates for the use of national assets such as biofuels.

Currently, only eight states have permanent access to year-round E15, posing challenges for farmers and ethanol producers who must create two different products. The call is for Congress to provide a legislative solution granting all states equal access.

"Ensuring nationwide access to year-round E15 gasoline is a critical step toward strengthening America’s energy independence," said Attorney General Steve Marshall. "President Trump’s leadership made clear that biofuels play a key role in securing our energy future, and it’s time for Congress to act. By passing this legislation, we can provide stability for producers, expand consumer choice, and unleash the full potential of American energy."

The States are urging Congress to pass the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025. Alabama has joined this effort alongside Iowa, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, and West Virginia.
