Indian Women in International Arbitration (IWIA), a group founded by Reed Smith senior associate Niyati Ahuja, has been nominated for the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge Award at the 2025 Global Arbitration Review Awards, the firm announced.

This is the second consecutive nomination for Ahuja and IWIA, who are being recognized for their innovative Speaker Bank initiative, a platform dedicated to elevating woman and woman-identifying professionals of Indian origin in arbitration.

IWIA is a nonprofit that aims to promote diversity, inclusion and empowerment of women in the field of international arbitration. Since its launch in March 2023, IWIA has built a community of nearly 3,700 followers and 675 active members, organized in-person and virtual events, and published blogs and publications to connect with aspiring legal professionals.

The Speaker Bank initiative, launched in January 2025, is a database of qualified and experienced women speakers of Indian origin who are available to speak at arbitration-related events, conferences, webinars, podcasts and panels.

Ahuja is a commercial disputes and international arbitration lawyer with experience representing global corporations and individuals in high-stakes disputes across multiple jurisdictions. She has acted for energy, mining, banking, telecom and agricultural investors in investor-state arbitrations, and has led commercial arbitrations involving breaches of joint venture and shareholder agreements.

Fluent in English and Hindi, Ahuja provides clients with a sophisticated and global perspective on their legal challenges.

The Global Arbitration Review Awards are the most prestigious awards in the field of international arbitration, celebrating the achievements and contributions of individuals, firms and organizations in the past year. The winners will be announced in Paris on 10 April during Paris Arbitration Week.
