A Mahnomen resident has been indicted for illegal firearm possession, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. Adam James Webster, 23, was allegedly found with a Remington rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun on July 17, 2023.
Webster is barred from owning firearms or ammunition due to a previous felony conviction in Mahnomen County for third-degree assault. He faces one count of illegal possession of firearms and appeared before Magistrate Judge Alice R. Senechal in the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including the White Earth Police Department, the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nichole J. Carter is leading the prosecution. It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation; Webster remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
