Dauphin County woman faces federal indictment for drug trafficking offenses

Attorneys & Judges

A Dauphin County woman has been indicted on charges related to drug trafficking, as announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Latika Rainey, 35, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 19, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Rainey is charged with conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base, cocaine, and marijuana between February 26 and March 1, 2023. She is also charged with distributing cocaine and possessing with intent to distribute these substances on March 1, 2023.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department of Justice strengthened PSN in May 2021 by focusing on fostering community trust, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.

The investigation was conducted by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police's Organized Crime Vice Control Unit and Street Crimes Unit, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe is handling the prosecution.

If convicted, Rainey faces a maximum penalty of up to 100 years in prison, supervised release after imprisonment, fines, and a special assessment. Sentencing will be determined by a judge who will consider federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.

It is important to note that indictments are merely allegations; individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
