Patricia Johnson, a 47-year-old resident of Memphis, has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison for identity theft and bank fraud. The announcement was made by Reagan Fondren, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Court evidence revealed that between May and June 2022, Johnson impersonated other individuals named "Patricia Johnson" who had existing bank accounts or were authorized signatories. She acquired their bank account numbers and personal information to make unauthorized cash withdrawals from their accounts. Through this scheme, she fraudulently obtained over $50,000.

Johnson's criminal history spans thirty years with numerous felony convictions for theft and fraud, including prior federal identity theft convictions. On May 16, 2024, she pled guilty to one count of bank fraud and two counts of aggravated identity theft in the Western District of Tennessee. On February 25, 2025, Senior United States District Court Judge John T. Fowlkes Jr. sentenced her to 106 months for these charges and an additional 14 months for violating supervised release from a previous case. Following her prison term, she will be on supervised release for five years. It is important to note that there is no parole in the federal system.

The United States Secret Service conducted the investigation into this case. Acting U.S. Attorney Fondren expressed gratitude towards Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Hall for prosecuting the case and acknowledged the efforts of law enforcement partners involved in the investigation.
