Orlando, Florida – Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney has announced the indictment of Montrey Roseberry, a 19-year-old from Orlando, on charges related to a child sextortion scheme. Roseberry faces three counts of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, three counts of production of child sexual abuse material, and one count of possession of such material. If convicted on all charges, he could face life imprisonment in federal prison. He remains detained pending the case's resolution.
Court documents reveal that between July 14, 2023, and April 2024, Roseberry allegedly engaged in a scheme to extort minors into producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). By impersonating a woman on social media, he coerced victims into creating explicit images and videos. Subsequently, Roseberry used this material to demand more extreme content involving sadomasochism, coprophilia, bestiality, and the abuse of other children. He threatened to distribute the images and videos if his demands were not met and went as far as threatening victims with death. In some instances, he sent photographs of their homes and details about their schools and families.
The indictment serves as a formal charge under federal criminal law; however, it does not imply guilt until proven otherwise.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman will handle the prosecution.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project combines efforts from federal, state, and local resources to apprehend offenders and rescue victims. More information can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
