A Mexican national, aged 30, has been sentenced for reentering the United States without authorization for the fourth time. U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced that Jesus Alberto Castro-Garza, who pleaded guilty on December 19, 2024, received a sentence of 106 months in prison from U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton.

Castro-Garza's criminal history includes felony convictions for injury to a child, assault family violence impeding breath, evading with a vehicle, and human smuggling. He was initially removed from the U.S. in 2019 but returned illegally three times thereafter. His last removal occurred on November 21, 2023.

On December 24, 2023, authorities found him again in the United States while he was in custody at a local jail. As he is not a U.S. citizen, Castro-Garza is expected to face removal proceedings after serving his prison term.

The investigation was conducted by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda McColgan.
