Antowan Jabaar Cain, a 45-year-old resident of Clewiston, Florida, has entered a guilty plea to charges related to drug distribution and firearm possession. Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney announced the plea, noting that Cain admitted to distributing methamphetamine and possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Cain could face significant prison time for these offenses. The methamphetamine distribution charge carries a potential sentence ranging from five to forty years in federal prison. For the firearm offense, Cain faces an additional minimum of five years up to life imprisonment, which would be served consecutively with the drug distribution sentence. He has also agreed to surrender the firearm involved in the crime.

The events leading to these charges occurred on December 12, 2024, when Cain sold both a firearm and methamphetamine in Hendry County.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan is handling the prosecution.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The Department of Justice enhanced its violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021, focusing on building trust within communities, supporting preventive community-based efforts, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
