A Dominican national has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for allegedly reentering the United States unlawfully after being deported. Danny Miguel Tejada Hernandez, 29, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He is currently detained and will be arraigned in federal court in Boston at an unspecified future date.
The indictment alleges that Tejada Hernandez was previously deported in August 2021 and subsequently returned to the United States without authorization. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, Tejada Hernandez is subject to deportation.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, announced the indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica Soto from the Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
It is important to note that the details contained within the charging documents are allegations at this stage. The defendant remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
