Kenneth Moore, a 42-year-old resident of New Jersey, has been sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction on two counts of alien smuggling for private financial gain. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Chief Patrol Agent Robert N. Garcia of the United States Border Patrol, Swanton Sector.

During the trial held in October 2024, evidence presented showed that Moore traveled from New Jersey to Clinton County, New York, on June 20, 2023. His intention was to pick up several individuals who had crossed into the United States illegally at a location other than an official Port of Entry. Moore expected to receive $3,000 for his actions but was apprehended by agents from the United States Border Patrol shortly after.

The jury could not reach a verdict on a separate charge of conspiracy to commit alien smuggling, leading to its dismissal during sentencing.

Alongside his prison sentence, Moore will also serve a three-year term of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol with assistance from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Allen J. Vickey and Joseph S. Hartunian.
