After a seven-day trial, a federal jury found OJ Rashad Green, known as "Ice," guilty of distributing fentanyl on multiple occasions. The verdict was announced by Acting United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, Phil Selden, along with officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Prince George’s County Police Department, Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland State Police.
Acting United States Attorney Phil Selden stated that Green sold fentanyl contributing to the opioid crisis in Southern Maryland. He emphasized the impact of this crisis on Maryland and highlighted ongoing efforts to prosecute those responsible.
Ibrar A. Mian, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Washington Division, reiterated the agency's mission to dismantle violent drug traffickers like Green who distribute dangerous substances without regard for human lives. He stressed that the guilty verdict reflects their commitment to combating addiction and preventing deadly overdoses in the community.
Evidence presented at trial showed that from January 21, 2022, through September 28, 2022, Green distributed fentanyl in Accokeek, Maryland. These activities occurred both at a residence he controlled and through direct deliveries to users and dealers. Green employed individuals to test fentanyl mixtures and act as runners for customer interactions outside his home.
Sentencing will be determined by U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow at a later date after considering relevant guidelines and statutory factors.
Phil Selden commended the DEA and Prince George’s County Police Department for their investigative work. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Darren S. Gardner and Brooke Oki are prosecuting the case.
