William J. Ihlenfeld, II U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia

James Reyes, a 55-year-old resident of Martinsburg, West Virginia, has confessed to his involvement in a significant drug trafficking operation in the Eastern Panhandle. Reyes admitted guilt to distributing cocaine as part of this organization.

The legal proceedings indicate that Reyes was actively engaged in selling drugs for the trafficking group. He now faces a potential sentence ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment in federal prison. The final sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is leading the prosecution for the government. The investigation was primarily conducted by the Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force, with support from multiple agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), United States Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and several local law enforcement departments across West Virginia and neighboring states.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble oversaw the case proceedings.
