David M. Anderson, a 64-year-old physician from Morgantown, West Virginia, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for filing false tax returns. Court documents and statements reveal that Anderson understated his taxable income and made false claims to reduce his tax burden, resulting in a $143,599 loss to the IRS over four years.
Following his prison term, Anderson will be subject to three years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eleanor Hurney and investigated by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the proceedings.
