Four individuals from Maine have been sentenced for their involvement in a drug trafficking ring operating in northern Maine. The sentences were handed down by U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann at the U.S. District Court in Bangor.

John Miller, 24, received a sentence of 54 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Jason Cunrod, 42, was sentenced to 48 months in prison and three years of supervised release. Joshua Young, 48, was given time served, approximately 62 days, with three years of supervised release including 24 months of home detention. Carol Gordon, 53, was sentenced to time served—approximately 30 months and 25 days—and will serve three years of supervised release with six months of community confinement.

Court records indicate that between January 2018 and December 2021, Cunrod, Miller, Gordon, Young and others trafficked methamphetamine and fentanyl in Penobscot and Aroostook counties as well as other locations. Miller provided firearms to his source while Gordon facilitated distribution events from her Bangor home.

A total of twenty-one defendants have been charged related to this conspiracy; seventeen have been sentenced while four await sentencing.

The investigation involved several agencies: the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Maine Drug Enforcement Agency; and police departments from Orono to Houlton. Assistance also came from the Maine State Attorney General’s Office and the Aroostook County District Attorney’s Office.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation aimed at dismantling high-level drug trafficking networks across the United States through a coordinated multi-agency approach.
