Montgomery, Ala. – Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced that Bobby Wayne Williams, a 48-year-old resident of Ariton, Alabama, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison. The sentence is for being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating the terms of his federal probation. Following his prison term, Williams will also serve three years of supervised release.
Williams' plea agreement and court records reveal that during the summer of 2024, while on federal supervised release in Dale County after completing a 63-month sentence for a prior federal gun conviction, he was involved in another incident. In June 2024, an arrest warrant was issued against him based on allegations that he threatened his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend with a firearm.
On August 14, 2024, during a home visit to execute the arrest warrant by a United States Probation Officer and deputies from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Williams was found possessing a handgun. This act violated both his previous felony conviction's prohibition against firearm possession and the conditions of his supervised release.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Dale County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Probation Office with support from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Russell T. Duraski prosecuted the case.
