Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Andy Marte, also known as "AD," 31, of Bridgeport, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison. U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden handed down the sentence in New Haven for Marte's involvement in a drug robbery conspiracy.

Court documents reveal that on April 28, 2023, Marte and accomplices Kareem Porter and Tyrone Allen went to a Bridgeport apartment building intending to rob an apartment believed to contain drugs and drug proceeds. Marte contacted Jermaine Bethel to join the robbery. While Bethel, Porter, and Allen attempted the robbery with a crowbar under Marte's instruction, he stayed in the car with two handguns as their getaway driver. The attempt failed when they could not enter the apartment and were subsequently confronted by law enforcement.

Authorities uncovered the plan through a court-authorized wiretap on Marte’s phone related to alleged drug trafficking activities. Officers seized two handguns and a crowbar from the vehicle.

Marte has prior convictions for multiple firearms offenses and violent robbery. He has been detained since his arrest on April 28, 2023. On March 28, 2024, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery.

Porter, Allen, and Bethel also pleaded guilty to this charge. Porter received a sentence of 24 months on October 28, 2024; Bethel was sentenced to one year plus one day on December 2, 2024; while Allen is awaiting sentencing.

The investigation was carried out by FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force along with the Bridgeport Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ross Weingarten and Karen Peck are prosecuting the case.
