A woman from Casamero Lake, New Mexico, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal car accident that occurred on tribal lands last summer. The indictment alleges that on August 6, 2024, Debbie Rojack, aged 45 and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, caused the death of John Doe by driving a vehicle recklessly when she knew or should have known her actions endangered others.

Rojack is currently in third-party custody under conditions of release while awaiting trial. A date for the trial has not yet been set. If found guilty, she could face up to eight years in prison.

The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Holland S. Kastrin and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office.

The investigation was conducted by the Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office with support from the Navajo Police Department, Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations, and New Mexico State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany DuChaussee is handling the prosecution.
