National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Chattanooga, Tennessee-based attorney Alan Cates was awarded the Jac Chambliss Lifetime Achievement Award at the Chattanooga Bar Association’s 128th Annual Meeting.
The award is presented to a member who has demonstrated the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitated access to the justice system, served and supported the community and maintained a high standard of ethics.
Cates focuses his practice on investment management and private wealth matters. With decades of experience, he has guided individuals and businesses in estate planning and business succession planning. He was recently inducted into the 2024 Charles W. "Buz" Dooley Pro Bono Hall of Fame by Legal Aid of East Tennessee in recognition of his dedication to pro bono work. Cates’s efforts have focused on providing estate planning services, including drafting wills, trusts, and beneficiary deeds, while also offering guidance on tax and nonprofit matters to individuals and organizations.
