Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Martin Delgado, 30, of Newington, has pleaded guilty to a narcotics trafficking offense. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven.

Court documents reveal that on May 13, 2024, members of the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force conducted a court-authorized search at Delgado's residence in Newington. During the search, they seized approximately 2,500 wax paper sleeves containing fentanyl, along with cocaine and narcotics packaging materials. Delgado fled when officers arrived but was captured shortly afterward in West Hartford. Officers found a discarded 9mm handgun near his residence.

Delgado pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and cocaine. This offense carries a mandatory minimum prison term of five years and could lead to a maximum sentence of 40 years. The sentencing date has not yet been set.

Delgado has been detained since his federal arrest on August 2, 2024.

The investigation involved the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force, Connecticut State Police, and West Hartford Police Department. The task force includes members from various local and state law enforcement agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Lembo and Reed Durham are prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aiming to reduce gun violence and other violent crimes by fostering community trust and supporting violence prevention organizations. More information about PSN can be found at www.justice.gov/psn.
