A woman from Somerset County, New Jersey, has been arrested and charged with bank robbery. Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna announced the arrest of Ciara Brascom, 39, from Skillman. She faces one count of bank robbery and made her initial court appearance on February 11, 2025, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Tonianne J. Bongiovanni in Trenton federal court.
Court documents reveal that on July 28, 2024, Brascom allegedly entered a Princeton bank and demanded cash while brandishing what appeared to be a black handgun. During the incident, she reportedly threatened to use the weapon if the alarm was triggered. Brascom is accused of fleeing with approximately $60,500.
The charge of bank robbery carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna credited special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their role in the investigation leading to these charges. He also acknowledged assistance from the Princeton Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard G. Shephard is representing the government in this case.
It is important to note that all charges are accusations at this stage; Brascom is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
