Miquel Beasley, a 22-year-old resident of Bryans Road, Maryland, faces charges related to an armed carjacking incident that occurred in Southeast Washington D.C. U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced his detention on February 7, 2025.
Court records reveal that on March 22, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Beasley met with the victim in the 3900 block of First Street SE for a marijuana transaction. During the encounter, Beasley allegedly entered the victim's vehicle and asked if they wanted to purchase marijuana. After receiving around $250 from the victim, Beasley reportedly brandished a firearm and demanded that the victim exit the car under threat of being shot. The victim complied, after which Beasley took control of the vehicle and drove away.
An arrest warrant was issued for Beasley on June 20, 2024. He was apprehended on January 30, 2025.
The Metropolitan Police Department is leading the investigation into this case, while prosecution is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
"An indictment is merely an allegation," officials noted, "and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
